STEAM FAIR GUIDELINES

  • Participants can either present a science project or submit original art to be displayed.

  • Projects can be worked on by one student or a group of students up to 4 kids.

  • Both hypothesis-driven (a project framed around an educated guess, question, or prediction) and observational-based projects are encouraged.

  • Using commercial kits is allowed, but homemade projects are encouraged.

  • Show your results on a 3-fold poster board.

  • Use models and be prepared to explain how the model explores the question(s).

  • Display tables are provided by the school.

  • Access to electricity is limited, request on application.

  • If using liquids, please take precautionary measures and clean up any spills.

  • No experimenting on siblings, classmates or animals is allowed.

  • No dangerous chemicals, live organisms, or fire is allowed.

  • Grownups are invited to help, but kids should do most of the thinking and doing.

  • Projects must be set up the day before the event and taken home at the end of the event.

  • Projects will be displayed for classmates to view during school hours on the day of the event.

  • Participants are expected to stay with projects during the Student Showcase timeframe.

  • Parents/guardians of participants are expected to remain at the school for the duration of the event.

Please read the following guidelines for the River Grove STEAM Fair prior to submitting your application.All grade levels are welcome to participate, including kindergarten through 5th grade.
